It seems that 2015 is the year of the Afternoon tea, everywhere is offering this quaint feast. There are voucher deals right left and centre, some of which are definitely better than others. I’ve been enjoying a few different afternoon teas over the past couple of months so I thought I’d share my favourites with you all.
A few friends and I bought a itison voucher at the end of last year for a Sex and the City style tea at the Broadsheet Bistro. To be honest, it was pretty terrible so I won’t be sharing this but I have also eaten some amazing meals…
Casa Amiga (Leith)
My lovely friend bought a Living Social voucher for afternoon tea at Casa Amiga afternoon tea at the beginning of the year. I’d never been here and didn’t know what to expect. It’s located on Leith Walk and super easy to get to on the bus.
When we received our tea it was a complete pastry-fest! I was delighted. A mixture of savoury and sweet pastries which were all really tasty and we were left absolutely stuffed!
Eteaket (Frederick Street)
You might remember earlier in the year my colleague and friend took me to an event at the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens to celebrate Chinese New Year. At this event they were selling raffle tickets so we both bought a few and my friend actually won an afternoon tea at Eteaket. She kindly invited me to go with her and we had a fantastic time. They are complete tea professionals and have all-sorts of varieties. We both decided to just go for good old breakfast tea. You get the option of a few different sandwiches to chose from and we went for smoked salmon.
Afternoon teas are so deceiving. They look like lots of dainty portions but as we started to devour them we quickly got pretty stuffed. I would definitely come back here for afternoon tea though. Perhaps on a sunny day so I can enjoy their wealth of outdoor seating.
One Square (Lothian Road)
I’ve saved my favourite until last!
A couple of friends and I decided to have a good old catch up over afternoon tea a few weeks ago. We spotted an advert in a Bite Magazine for Afternoon Bee at One Square in the The Sheraton. No that isn’t a typo, it really is bee instead of tea. The theme of the food is honey as this is a special spring deal they’re currently offering. As you can see below it really was amazing. So much though and detail had gone into making the menu and we couldn’t even finish all the food but they packaged up our leftovers so we could take them home.
If you get a chance to try this before the end of May then you definitely should.
I’m completely on a roll with afternoon teas so I’d love to try other places.
