Some exciting news for all you gin fans out there… Edinburgh Gin, which is crafting the Gin renaissance, has launched a ‘taste of Scottish seaside’ in time for summer 2016. But what does the Scottish seaside taste of? Read on…
Olives are the Marmite of the fruit world (yes, they are a fruit!), you either love them or hate them. I used to hate them and now I love them. I’ve spoken to many, many people about this and they all say the same thing, “I just kept eating them until I liked them. It was probably after the seventh time of eating them!” Over the past few years I have been trying to convince my (stubborn) other half of this, so when I was invited to an Olive it! cookery masterclass in Edinburgh, he was the prefect candidate for my plus one.
Before we begin the three-course olive based feast, I thought I’d start with some outstanding olive facts:
- As I said above, they are a fruit!
- Olives are healthy – approx. 37 calories for a whopping 7 olives
- Good source of vitamin E
- Black olives are also a good source of iron
- Virtually cholesterol free!
So if you didn’t fancy making yourself love olives before, maybe you should!
Lucky racegoers are getting the chance to saddle up with Family Fortunes heart-throb Vernon Kay as it’s announced he is to be this year’s VIP host at one of Musselburgh Racecourse’s most prestigious events.
The popular TV personality will join attendees at Stobo Castle Ladies Day, widely recognised as one of Scotland’s biggest fashion extravaganzas.
Vernon, who is best known as the presenter of prime time TV show All Star Family Fortunes, will host the after racing party in the Stage Marquee at the five star attraction just a few miles from Edinburgh city centre.
The race meeting, which also features Musselburgh’s richest horse race of the season, the £100,000 William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup, attracted a sell out record of 10,300 people last year.
Sarah Montgomery, Senior Operations and Commercial Manager at Musselburgh Racecourse, said: “As guests go, Vernon is a real thoroughbred. Not only is he one of the best-known faces on British TV, but he has the perfect fashion credentials to fully appreciate the riot of style and colour that is Stobo Castle Ladies Day.
“He always has a smile on his face, which we’re sure will make him a hugely popular choice with the women who turn out in such large numbers to make the day such a huge success. (more…)
It is a well known fact in life that cheese improves any meal (sorry to all the lactose intolerant people out there). As a result, the recent influx in cheese related eateries in Edinburgh has made me a very happy cheesy bunny indeed. So here is a rundown of the best places to indulge in cheese in Edinburgh… (yes I am aware of the vast cheese repetition in those 2 sentences. Cheese!)
Christmas is just around the corner and I am feeling fantastically festive. In case you’ve missed it on Instagram or my Facebook page, I’m doing a daily #ChristmasJumperCountdown where I wear a different festive jumper every day in December. But that’s not all I’ve been doing, here’s what else I’ve been up to…
Over the weekend I have been thinking about all the things that have been making me happy recently, so I thought I’d share some of them with you all.
This program sounds ridiculous and it took me years before I finally decided to watch it and see what the fuss is all about. And now I am hooked! I could explain it to you but it will sounds insanely dull, just watch it for yourselves. Keep an eye out for my favourites, June and Leon!

Yes it can be a tad stressful but ultimately I think it is completely awesome that I am planning the most important day of my life when I will be marrying my best friend and in my opinion, one of the most spectacular people on this planet. This time next year I will be a Mrs!
A while ago I saw my fellow Edinburgh blogger The Likely Lady Instagram some adorable ski themed bedding, so I asked her where she found it and off I went to Primark to get my own, et voilà! Not only does it look adorable but it is so soft and cosy – perfect for dark winter nights.
