Spring has finally made an appearance in Edinburgh! *puts on maxi dress and flip flops*.

On Easter Monday work started on our new kitchen. This is a pretty big deal as we’re getting a whole new kitchen – everything! There will be a blog post about it when it’s finished as I’m very excited about this. As I’m sure you’ll know, I love food and cooking so my kitchen is my pride and joy. This day was also one of the sunniest and warmest days of 2015 so we decided to take a walk and escape the mess of the flat as they started to rip out our old kitchen.

From our home in Leith and headed off down to Newhaven, past Victoria Park.

Discovering Edinburgh: Newhaven and Leith

This very British front door in Newhaven always makes me smile. Discovering Edinburgh: Newhaven and Leith

Newhaven harbour is definitely one of my happy places in Edinburgh. I love walking around here, breathing in the sea air and having a good old think.Discovering Edinburgh: Newhaven and Leith Discovering Edinburgh: Newhaven and Leith

We walked around the harbour and along the water front in front of the Western Harbour Breakwater flats. From here we walked around in a loop and made our way to The Shore area.Discovering Edinburgh: Newhaven and Leith

After all that walking we ended up at the Leith Beer Company at The Shore in Leith. It’s a decent pub but they have lots of outdoor seating looking out onto the rest of The shore and the water of Leith. We had a couple of drinks and lunch; I had scampi and my other half had a guormet hotdog. Together with the drinks (pictured below) it came to just under £20 which is a pretty good deal. During the summer months it does get pretty busy here and somewhat more of a challenge to nab a seat in the sun.The Leith Beer Company, Edinburgh - brunchandnaps.com
